HS And UTI’s

A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

Does anybody with HS also have problems with chronic kidney or bladder infections or simply an irritated bladder lining?

Lucky I don't Linda, but I have always heard Cranberry juice is great for kidney and bladder issues!

Yes that does help. But better than that is to starve it by eating just meat and veggies and take a probiotic, I take a super powerful one with billions of about 15 different strains of bacteria and it works when I take it but don’t take it all the time. I don’t seem to get that in the wazoo too much. Have to keep skin folds clean and dry though and honey is the best treatment for that if gets out of hand. Maybe I need a catheter and put yogurt put in the bladder. Boy! what would that do! some certain friendly bacteria in excess have been know to switch’s hats from white to black if you watch westerns. I did read something super interesting today tho. e. coli can embed the bladder wall and when antibiotics come they can imbed themselves in healthy tissue and go dormant so the antibiotics can’t get to them. Then when the antibiotic is all gone they come out with their jack hammers and attack the bladder lining again. This is known as imbedded infection and is undetectable in urine tests. The bladder ever so often sheds it’s lining. But they keep jumping into new tissue, I wonder if this can happen in HS tunnels. I wonder when the first HS case happened. e. coli hasn’t always behaved this way or maybe they didn’t know about it. Sometimes can end it my prophylactic long term antibiotic that attacks bacteria on multiple defense mechanisms like macrodantin. I got over it in my 30’s by taking that for a year, Lowest dose just once at bedtime, See, these germs learn to outsmart antibiotics on so many levels. They are smarter than we are.

Linda you have quite a few sensitivities which must make it hard to know how to treat anything. But back to the old wazoo, and I don't know if this would help anything. I worked with a girl that was pregnant and had a yeast infection.......she couldn't take meds and the over the counter treatment was not recommended either! The Dr told her to try applying yogurt up into her wazoo, and it helped her yeast infection by balancing her PH?????

I have a very sensitive bladder and cranberry and vinegar makes my bladder hurt real bad even if I don’t have a UTI. Too much coffee or diet soda will set me off too. So I’m looking for things that does what cranberry does but without the acidity of cranberry. I’m looking at a couple of herbs I’ve never heard of and trying to figure out if they will work and if they are safe. I’m afraid also of antibiotic resistance with uti’s since I am prone to them. Getting old has made me prone to them after being free of them 35 years. One is dehydration from blood sugar spiking, and the other one is bacteria from rectum because sometimes being this old I accidentally at times get cross contamination. I got contaminated during that hard freeze and my pipes were froze. Even though I washed well from water from a coffee pot it wasn’t the same as jumping in a hot bathtub for a good soak to get super clean. My uti’s are mostly in winter because hygiene is so hard in such a cold house. Can’t just hop in the tub on a second’s notice without freezing to death even with a heater, I need to wait until outside temps rise. Antibiotic resistance is a huge concern for me. I checked into d-Mannose but some say it is bad for diabetics, can damage kidneys in some people etc, etc. Keep ideas coming though. The two herbs I’ve found are not easy to get kitchen herbs. Have to order from far away places. Haven’t decided to order them yet.

Also, you could try drinking some apple cider vinegar.
