What Do Y’all Put On Open And/or Closed Wounds?

A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

I have 7 flares in my groin area and they feel like they’re on fire. I haven’t been able to sit or walk for a week now. The skin seem a little raw and irritated since I used essential tea tree and peppermint oil on them. Even when I try to wipes the wound with aloe and witch hazel wipes they start to burn. Neosporin pain gave a a burning sensation as well.

Nutmeg. Only put on single openings, not large areas. Keep it on 24/7. Mix half and half with Benadryl lotion as a paste and bandage. I buy Walmart Equate brand of Benadryl lotion because it is cheaper. Took me a month and a half but did close it and skin grew together. Scar finally faded. I had had the hole a whole year and it kept breaking open and bleeding. Water from bathing would make it swell. When it got too irritated I switched to Preparation H until irritation faded then back on the nutmeg/Benadryl lotion again. Nutmeg is great because it is a broad spectrum antibiotic and antifungal. So it protects very well from reinfection. It is toxic however as in will kill you deader than a hammer in large amounts if ingested or if use over large areas. So don’t eat any and just use on a single bump. Same with the Benadryl and prep H. Remember skin absorbs medicine same as ingesting. Not for use on large areas.A bit the size of a pencil eraser over a bump hole does the trick. When I researched Nutmeg I found out it’s wonderful properties and no more than 1/4 teaspoon a day can be eaten. Supposedly a man fed his wife a whole teaspoon in a creamy Swedish sauce and she died! So need my warning. But it does close holes. But have to keep it on hole all the time or you’ll lose ground quickly. Mix nutmeg with this gel from Walmart. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Equate-Itch-Relief-G...

Yes and no! I've noticed there's a very very slight burning sensation a few minutes after applying it, but only sometimes. Apparently, this is normal and is due to the pH of the honey. It goes away quickly. No stinging upon application like neosporin though!

Thank you. I’ll look for it at CVS. Does the Medihoney burn when applied to a semi open wound?

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this right now. I'm going through a flare up too and I understand how exhausting it is! I would definitely stya away from the tea tree and peppermint oil, for now. They can irritate and dry out the skin, and wounds need a clean, moist environment to heal. I've been having some success with Medihoney (you can get it at most drugstores, I went to cvs). It's antibacterial and promotes wound healing. I clean the area with an antimicrobial soap, apply a layer of medihoney, and then tape on a layer of non-stick gauze. It's important to keep the spots covered. I hope you can find some relief soon 💛
