How was it? And did it help? Pretty nervous about it.

My daughter had a procedure they call deroofing on one of her abcesses under her arm. This was a procedure done in the office. They cut out all of the damaged area and they covered it with vaseline and gauze. We were told to replace with vaseline and gauze daily. We had to change to antibiotic ointment due to reaction to vaseline. Point is she didn't experience pain and it healed nicely(skin is a bit of a different shade but no scabbing, etc)with no reoccurring abcess or tracting.

I had surgery on a recurring boil. They said I'd have a small scare on bigger than 2 inches. This was not the case as when they cut it open to remove dead and infected skin it had channelled further than they first thought. Recovery was quite slow I need physio as they took a lot of skin my movement was limited until way after healing. On a plus I have had no problems in this area. But I hate the scar I think they could have made it look more tidy. I now also have nurve damage so if I touch myself under the arm I feel it in other places it's weird. If I was offered surgery again I'd say yes.

I have had 4 surgeries in my armpits. I've been on doxcycline for almost a year. I'm on remicade iv treatments, I use hibiclens, which you can get at Walmart and also clindamycin topical gel. My surgeon and dermatologist keep in touch about my case.

I had it in both pits. It was as long healing time and the doctor pulled the stitches too early and the scar happened up but it was worth the cost, pain, and recovery time. I wouldn't raise my arms in public still but I do wear tank tops now. One of the best things I ever did. No recurrence in the area. Now pain and cyst free at least there.
