Wound Dressing

A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭
Houston, TX

I have this open flare wound that weeps and causes odor. I was wondering how can I make the wound dry up and heal?? Also what wound packaging or bandaid/gauze is okay?? I haven’t tried any because I don’t want the adhesive to be too strong to where it hurts. Are there any gentle ones that don’t hurt when taking them off?? Thanks!

- Use absorbent dressings to contain drainage.
- Apply petroleum jelly to prevent the bandage from sticking.
- Consider using ABD pads with Hypafix tape for gentle and effective coverage.

3. Pressure Application:
- Apply pressure with a bandage to help manage the wound.

4. Alternative Bandages:
- Menstrual pads or nursing pads can be cost-effective alternatives.
- Charcoal bandages can help minimize odor but may be more expensive.

5. Air-Dry When Possible:
- Allow the wound to air-dry when you can to promote healing.

Always consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice and to ensure you are using the best wound care practices for your specific situation.

Invest in Hibiclens. It's a scrub you use every time you shower. Get it at yr local pharmacy or walmart. Ask pharmacist where it is located. It will help with the healing and odor. I'm allergic to tape so I use kotex. It helps from ruining yr clothes plus pulls the moisture away. I hope this help
