Hey Laura.....Dr's and Dermatologists are a huge problem in the HS world. Most of them are guessing when they see HS. My Dr (helps minimally, but I know more than he does) says 5% of the population has it. Making the world aware is also a problem because it hits you in private areas, and almost every one of us has been told it's bad hygiene so we've also been shamed! Most of us don't care to share our problem with anyone! This site is great because no matter how gross you feel your HS is, we all understand exactly what you are talking about and can share similar stories! I have always felt I am the only one dealing with this til I found this page, and it gives you comfort to know there are others dealing with it! Try everything suggested on here and eventually you will find something that gives you some relief. Not the same things work the same on all our HS. I have given up sugar and carbs so I have no active HS...may work on some, but not others! Huge hugs!
