I had my daughter remove one that was very painful on my buttocks. That was 3 years ago. It took over a year to finally heal and I still have almost a perfect circle opening about the size of a kernel of corn there that apparently is never going away.

When performing a punch incision and drainage (I&D) for hidradenitis suppurativa, a slightly larger hole (4 millimeters) is made to allow for continuous drainage, which helps lesions resolve. This hole is designed to heal within 24 hours, preventing fluid accumulation and reducing the likelihood of the lesion returning.

Same with most of mine. They never really heal unless I have them excised by a surgeon and I can't afford that anymore.
