Has Anyone Had Gastrointestinal Problems From Using Antibiotics For Hidradenitis?
I currently have a flare and go to the doctor tomorrow. I’m almost sure they will recommend antibiotics. Several years ago I got a bad colon infection (c.difficile) from taking antibiotics and have had IBS and other gastro problems since then. I was wondering what other people’s doctors are saying about being on antibiotics long-term and gut health. Do you use probiotics regularly?
Yes I've been chasing the borderline of ibs 15 year now when I was 20 year now 40 hs i have been dealing with HS for 20 years
I am currently having that issue as we speak. I am usually on Humira, but I am getting a knee replacement on July 27 so I am off of it until after my surgery. Humira lowers your immune system, and they want me off of it to lower the chance of infection.
Since I've been off of the Humira, I've developed 2 abscesses in my groin area. So, I am on Doxycycline and topical Clindamycin.
I also have Crohn's Disease. Needless to say, the Doxycycline is just killing my gut!!
I guess it's the lesser of 2 evils! Ugh.
There’s another good one he said too I just cannot remember the name right now
Plain yogurt no sweetener cabbage u can buy in the refrigerator section of store - probiotic capsules brand. Align internal medicine Dr shared with me how this was studied & what all the studies/ research exactly meant. This was many yes ago. Lots where put out as a copy and never studied
I was initially given Doxycycline but it upset my stomach. However it is the best antibiotic for HS. I am now on Minocycline. It helps but I want Humera. I’m getting a second opinion for my diagnosis in May. I’ll just have to see.
