When A Wound Opens, Is It Better To Put On A Dressing Completely Dry, Or Should I Put On An Antiseptic Cream And Then The Dressing?
Hi lovely, I use the allevyn gentle border dressings. They are pink and should be able to get them from your local nurse or GP. If I’ve got an open wound I tend to put either a piece of gauze then the dressing on or you can get Inadine strips from nurse or GP. If you get the inadine and put it on open wound it will draw out any infection and just put the dressing over the top, once it starts to stay the same orange colour then it means it’s pulled out most of the infection, if it goes white in colour then your body is still taking the inadine in. Hope that helps. You can also buy the dressings and inadine on Amazon if you can’t get them from nurse or doctor. Xxx
Sudocrem - then bandage I’ve become quite the dexterous cat due to them being in the most awkward places. I’m also a frequent flyer with micropore tape and cotton wool circles. Sounds insane but my priority is germ prevention and healing.❤️🩹
Wow there’s so many things here I’ve never heard of! May have to get to the pharmacy and ask them for this - my wound has been weeping for a few days and seems to be healing but really slowly. I’m always worried about doing the right thing for it. Thanks so much for your advice x
Hi Rachel. If you put a dry bandage on a wound, it will stick and pull off any scab formation. You have to keep an Antiseptic, Antibiotic, A&D Ointment, etc. applied.
