Here are some recommendations for managing a boil at home:

- Cold Compress: If the boil is painful but not near bursting, you can apply something cold, like ice or an ice pack, to reduce pain.
- Warm Compress: If the boil is very inflamed and close to bursting, a warm compress can help. Look for a white spot at the center to know if it's ready.
- Topical Hydrocortisone: Over-the-counter hydrocortisone, such as Cortaid-10, can help with irritation.
- Ibuprofen: For pain relief, ibuprofen is recommended.

Remember, if the boil doesn't drain by itself, it may be necessary to see a dermatologist. Avoid squeezing it, as this can cause more inflammation and pain.

If it has not popped yet, you can take a little bit of rubbing alcohol and rub on it if it will allow you to do so and the alcohol should help it go away, depending on how bad the boil is, I would say you have about a 50/50 chance of it making it dry up. I've used rubbing alcohol in the past and sometimes it worked and the boil went away and sometimes it didn't
