Managing pain from hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) at work can be challenging, but there are several strategies that can help:

1. Pain Relief Products:
- Lidocaine Ointment: Apply up to 5% lidocaine ointment every three to four hours to minimize pain in specific areas.
- Boil Relief: Keep products like Boil Relief handy for on-the-go pain management.

2. Over-the-Counter Medications:
- Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and Ibuprofen (Advil): These can be taken up to 800 milligrams every six hours to help manage pain.

3. Emergency Kit:
- Keep an emergency kit with bandages, tape, absorbent pads, and petroleum jelly. This ensures you are prepared for wound care at any time.

4. Warm Compress:
- Apply a warm compress to affected areas to reduce pain and draw out inflammation.

5. Workplace Accommodations:
- Speak with your HR department about accommodations under the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), such as getting a different chair, permission to sit when needed, or the ability to work from home.

By combining these strategies, you can better manage HS pain and maintain your well-being at work.

I use hydrocolloid dressings. I shower first with antibacterial soap (neem and turmeric) then properly dry off. Then I use a hudrocolloid dressing. It’s the only thing that sticks and doesn’t cause irritation
