Hi Ruth mine started at 12 yrs old under my armpits as well. Dr.s called it folliculitis then. Then I would get random flares in different places on my body. I wasn't given any medication for it. I was always told make sure I dried under my arms properly. I shut down at that point and told no one of what I was going through. By 15 it started under my breast area. I took care of it best I could. As, I got older my lifestyle changed became a vegetarian stop eating loads of sugary foods & noticed my flares stopped for many yrs. I'm 47 now, I still eat vegan dishes but had to add chicken & fish mostly to my diet, I became severely anemic. I started getting flares around 35 here & there in different places so, I researched different natural herbs & started taking them. TUMERIC being one of my favorites. I'm also from the Caribbean so it's incorporated in many of our dishes like curry. I also use tumeric, ginger & hibiclens for my soaps. Upon researching last yr and discussing a new flare w/ my new Dr prescribed clindamycin topical solution. After every shower &; that's a lot lol I put it all over my skin regardless if there's a flare or not. Tumeric is not activated w/o black pepper so look for a product that has both in it. Nuvitality tumeric gummies, add something like that to her diet. I even put tumeric in water w/ black pepper &; drink it if I have too. I pray healing for her and us all. Hope this helps.. diet change is a must.. sugar &; stress causes flares for me💜

I think mine started around 21 (35now) maybe got one flare in the armpit once a year, and was told abscesses and given antibiotics. It was manageable then.
Roll forwards to 2021 and 6 weeks after the birth of my 2nd child and it was like a bomb of HS exploded within me, I was new flaring and reflaring all within my armpits, mainly my right one, the constant pain and embarrassment of smell, really got me into a depression, I would pull away from family and when I couldn’t escape meet ups, I would fake a smile. Then in August 2023 I was forced to A&E by my boyfriend and brother for an abscess larger than a golf ball, and couldn’t raise my arm more than a few inches, ended up having an incision and drain which the relief after was amazing, unfortunately, I am now and have been reflaring in the same area and also gained a new flare just below the site, so now fast approaching 7 months and the original wound has still not healed, I’ve finally gotten a dermatologist, although so far treatment from them did not work. Have another appointment coming up soon and really hope the next course of attack helps. X
