What's The Typical Or What Has Been Your First Course Of Treatment At The Derm?
When first seeing the derm, what's your experience? Also did you get a different diagnosis besides hs once you started seeing them. I'm waiting on my referral for the derm to go through. Im nervous as to what to expect as the first trial or round ( not sure how to say that) of treatment they might start me on. I'm also wondering what the chances that I wasn't properly diagnosed or something else has developed.
I was very lucky in the 90's to have a derm that knew what HS was but nothing helped me but surgery. I went for a second opinion but both Dr. said I was too far along for anything but surgery. I waited a long time and hid my wounds till both my armpits were nothing but spiderwebs of skin. After that it was nothing but antibiotics till these injectable meds like Humira but so far no luck with those either.

My biggest tip is advocate for yourself and ask ALL the questions. Sometimes doctors are quick to prescribe medication and push you to do clinical trials without knowing the true effects that itβs gonna have on you and without knowing the side effects of the medication do your research and get second opinions.
I was happy when the dermatologist diagnosed me because it was an answer to what I was dealing with for so long. My new dermatologist does not impress me. She said there is no fatigue associated with HS and told me I had to get much worse before she would put me on meds.
What If Hormonal Therapy Isn't An Option Because The Person In Question Is Still In Remission From Breast Cancer And Is On Tamoxifen
Also, If You Are On HUMIRA, That Is The Medication You Are Currently Taking. Have You Seen Any Weight Gain With That?
