What type of birth control do you use? How has it affected you HS?
IUD Users: what kind do you have? has it affected your HS?

I am due to change my IUD and I have not done this since being diagnosed with HS. I cannot tolerate the patch and unlikely to tolerate the pill. I an stuck on where to go and would like to know what works for all the other ladies out there without causing flare ups.

Are you asking about the use of birth control pills for managing hidradenitis suppurativa (HS)? Here are some key points:

- Types of Oral Contraceptives Used for HS: Combined oral contraceptives, which include both estrogen and progesterone, may help balance hormone levels and counteract androgens to manage HS symptoms.
- Examples of Combination Pills: Some brand names include Apri, Aviane, Azurette, Beyaz, Gianvi, Junel, Kelnor, Levora, Low-Ogestrel, Microgestin, MonoNessa, Necon, Nortrel, Ocella, Ortho-Novum, Portia, Safyral, Trivora, Yasmin, Yaz, Zarah, and Zovia.

- Possible Side Effects: These can include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, swollen gums, changes in appetite, weight changes, diarrhea, constipation, darkened skin patches, tender breasts, vaginal irritation, and bleeding between periods. There is also a slight risk of blood clots, heart attacks, breast cancer, or liver cancer.
