I cover mine because I found that where skin touches the infected area transfers to the unaffected area! Just use medical tape!!

I have always preferred to keep the area uncovered. I do feel this helps healing. It isn’t always possible. Occasionally my job puts me in situations where leaving it exposed was not safe. Best too use good judgment depending on the environment you are in.

For areas that have been draining on and off, it's generally recommended to:

- Wash wounds one to three times a day with a saline solution to promote cleanliness and healing
- Cover the clean, dry wound with a bandage of your choice. If you're concerned about sticking, you can apply petroleum jelly first.
