Know your triggers! Is it diet?(dairy, nightshades, yeast) stress? Certain fabrics? Hormones? Definitely a dermatologist who is leading forefront of this disease and sacrifice going to see them. Even though we go through this, everyone in life goes through something and it could be worse. Learn to be a victor not a victim. Learn to be kind and patient with yourself. Do what you can when you can. Learn to be grateful and thankful to God what you have.

I had went through a general surgeon. I had a plus on my side bc I worked there. I also had a dermatologist which they worked together to help me. Eating healthy, the deodorant, body wash, and stress levels all plays a part with break outs.

I've been struggling with this ghastly disease since I can remember going from one doctor to the next and none could really give me something that would help. So about six months ago I go to my local GP and I tell her that I am really struggling and she said she would consult with a dermo colleague of hers and while they were chatting he asks her if I struggle with my sugar levels.. Which I do. He then told her that HS thrives on sugar!! So now I try my best to cut out sugar completely.

Find a good doctor you feel comfortable with & that is educated about HS, wash the affected areas DAILY. Regardless of flare ups, keep the areas dry at all times. If you can avoid shaving in those areas. If your unable to avoid shaving in those areas be very gentle. And wash afterwards. Keep the areas clean in case of any damage done to the skin during shaving, you don't want this to turn into a flare up. Try to avoid wearing clothing that keeps moisture locked it. You don't want this areas staying moist for prolonged periods of time. When you do have a flare up, use Voltaren (NEVER use on an open wound.) Voltaren is an anti inflammatory topical ointment for arthritis. It will help with the swelling and pain associated with a flare up. Make sure to keep this area clean and dry ALWAYS. Get to a doctor and get prescribed hibiclens soap, this will help kill bacteria in the area. Then use clindamycin antibiotic lotion after cleaning. You'll want to do this everyday regardless of flare ups. This will help prevent them along with killing bacteria of any existing ones. Diet, & exercise can help. If your overweight this can definitely cause more flare-ups. Try to eat healthy and stay active, and keep up on hygiene in those areas. I hope this helps even just a little. ❤️

Be kind to yourself and also patient. There will be good days but also bad days. The best medicine with this condition is knowledge & the best doctor is yourself. No one knows your body better than you. Just read everything you can about this condition and read about everything people are doing and see what works best with you. Some docs are not as experienced and can make a guinea pig out of you. There’s no cookie cutter solution to this condition you just have to learn by trial and error.
