Blair, It did improve my h.s. I think I was on it 7 or 8 months. I got off of it because I had gotten sick and then started developing another skin condition. I won't go into the particulars of that unless you ask me to. The hidradenitis suppurtivia has been less even since I have stopped it. I think most people aren't as unfortunate to get any side effects. It has helped many on this site. Best of luck and blessings to you

@A myHSteam Member. I have been on Humira 2 years and it really helps. You will get a flare now and then but it is not painful as before Humira. For me it's as if I don't have HS. Good luck with it πŸ€žπŸ˜„

Humira (Adalimumab) is a biologic drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat moderate to severe hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) in people 12 and older. Here are some key points about Humira:

- Mechanism: Humira is a genetically engineered antibody that neutralizes tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-Ξ±), a chemical messenger involved in autoimmune attacks.
- Administration: After an initial loading dose, Humira is administered every week or every other week by subcutaneous injection. It is available as a single-dose prefilled pen or syringe.
- Side Effects: Common side effects include respiratory infections, headache, redness or irritation at injection sites, and rash. Rare but serious side effects include severe allergic reactions, potentially fatal infections, new or worsening heart failure, lupus-like syndrome, demyelinating disease (such as multiple sclerosis), and an increased risk of certain types of cancer such as lymphoma.
