I can eat anything now even carbs since eliminating saturated fat and doing Mediterranean diet with olive oil. I eat low fat kefir, low fat yogurt and low fat cheese a few times a day, bread, crackers. No HS for two years now. I had to exercise a lot, lower my calories, lose weights. Basically had to get rid of diabetes with a new lifestyle. No HS at all! Not even a pimple. I walk 5,000 to 10,000 steps a day and eat 1,000 to 1,300 calories a day. No restaurant food or processed food. I’m still careful with carbs.

@A myHSteam Member. @A myHSteam Member. Other autoimmune diseases can do thi to the mouth and gums. Sjogren’s Syndrome wil do this and Ankylosing Spondylitis and others. Do you have dry mouth, dry eyes or eye inflammation, dry skin? Not enough saliva causes this. Vitamin deficiencies. Perhaps certain medicines.

Dianne.....never heard of that, but HS has done all kinds of weird that I've read about on these pages! Hugs, I hope you can figure that out, autoimmune diseases are something I'm not very familiar with, although seems somehow connected to HS??

@A myHSteam Member. I only eat out once a month and usually at Mediterranean restaurant. I got a high quality cooler I keep in my car to pack healthy meals with frozen bottles of water in a trash bag on top of the zip lock bags or containers of food. I pack cooked chicken breast King Oscar lemon or other flavored salmon or sardines or leftovers, salad. One high calorie restaurant meal wrecks calorie count intake for the whole week. A single restaurant meal usually has over 1,000 calories. Usually they have 1,500 or so calories which is the whole day allowance so if eat out that’s 3,000 calories in a day. If I crave a burger real bad I half a double meat one with husband to lessen the bun and eat half a small fry. Even that is once or twice a month because of the bad fats and being processed. So if you eat out 4 times a week you are over consuming calories with high salt and bad types of fats and oils that cause fatty liver disease, diabetes which can cause HS. Mayonnaise is bad. Take a cooler for food or take cans of food and a can opener that are salt free or low salt I take canned green beans and salad. I had liver scars I reversed so it was do it or die. So pretend you gonna die and just stop eating out. Many of my friends dying early. Previous generations did not eat out like we do. Lots of people dying in 60’s instead of 80’s. I feel for ya cuz husband eats out in front of me. But many times if it’s fast food I sit in the car or steal a bite or two. Because fast food is so high fat it can still have 700 calories eating only half. I try to eat my packed lunch before he eats so I won’t eat the bad stuff.Fatty liver is progressive and is really the cause of his type 2 diabetes. Diabetes contributes to HS in a severe way.

Cindi....you are not alone.....alot of Dr's don't seem to know what HS is and I feel for my USA friends that have to pay for appointments. I would be so mad to go to a Dr that's guessing and prescribing something that may or may not work! My Dr says 5% of the population have it, so that's not a whole lot for the research people to work hard helping us all! I personally think more have it, although so many are too embarassed to even talk to a Dr about it. This page will be more help than most Dr's! There are over 45,000 members on her that can give you tips and advice, and I suggest you try as many different things as you can. Not the same thing works on all of us, but you are bound to find something that gives you some relief! Hugs
