Im happy to hear there was a option to be sedated, I had to go to the ER once for relief because of a boil under my arm. And that was the worse experience ever, it took two doctors to drain it & they refused to give me pain medication.

I am in the same boat as you are. I've had about 12 surgeries starting in 2016. My last two surgeries were May and July of this year. I still have several more to go and my body is very worn out and weary.

Dealing with the trauma of constant procedures like incisions and drainage for hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) can be incredibly challenging. Here are some strategies to help manage the psychological toll:

1. Seek Professional Support: Consider talking to a mental health professional who can provide coping strategies and emotional support.
2. Pain Management: Discuss with your doctor about effective pain management options, including medications and techniques to reduce pain during and after procedures.
3. Relaxation Techniques: Practices such as deep breathing, meditation, and mindfulness can help manage stress and anxiety.
4. Support Groups: Connect with others who understand your experience. Platforms like myHSteam offer a community of people living with HS who share advice and support.
5. Prepare for Procedures: If sedation helps, continue to request it. Also, ask your doctor for detailed information on what to expect and how to manage post-procedure pain.

Remember, it's important to communicate openly with your healthcare provider about your pain and emotional well-being.
