What Is A Good Diet For HS

A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

I'm starting to notate everything I'm eating daily. I eat Ice cream year round. I eat Bread, almost all vegetables, a lot of different fruit, Seafood, Chicken, Beef, and Turkey. No Pork. I drink Cold Drinks sometimes. What's a good diet for HS? Am I doing ok with listing what I'm eating? Where to get a Nutritionist?

I wish I had more self discipline......I have a flare because of mashed potatoes, carrots, carmelized onions, gravy, cranberry sauce, dressing, pie, ice cream.......after all, you can't just have plain turkey!!!

Hs is caused by the immune system attacking its own tissues
Hs develops when the immune system overreacts to clogged hair follicles and its believed sweat glands develop abnormal trapping secretion’s deep in the skin triggering inflammation
Caused by a combination of inherent and environmental factors
Common in smokers but none smokers get it as well and has possible links to metformin
Only way of describing hs = monsters inside me the program on tv 📺

I'm not sure, what's the best diet is yet. So I give my husband multivitamins in the meantime. We've been dealing with this for about 15 years, and I'm still researching. But the multivitamins seem to help in the meantime because they give him what nutrition I have no idea is missing. So for now it helps.

@A myHSteam Member @A myHSteam Member, Here is what I’m doing that works for me but maybe not necessarily other people. I just quit eating so darn much. I would do ok and eat 1600 calories but then I’d had a 2000 or 3000 calorie day bender. My husband gets a blue plate lunch special everyday. It’s usually not very healthy so we split it. Usually a meat and maybe fried or not, mashed potatoes and two veggies. Sometimes the veggie is green beans but mostly it is peas or beans or some other starch. I eat half of it and chase it with coffee or diet soda. Then I don’t eat snacks or anything else until supper and eat another balanced meal. I’m not hungry. I usually allow 1/3 cup of the mashed potatoes and give the rest of the mountain of potatoes to hubby. No more cookies, candy or chips. If have a severe sweet tooth I might have a slice of toast with jam. That’s it, losing a little weight without weighing, counting or trying. Getting up and doing more around the house and expending more energy. If extra hungry I’ll eat a whole canned vegetable to fill up. Christmas Day we did like Christmas Story and ordered 4 quarts eve food, different dishes. Husband ate all his in two meals. I measured a cup to each quart bag and froze 5 baggies of main course and froze 5 or 6 cup bags of cooked rice. So I take out my small portion when get hungry. If I eat my one cup of main dish and one cup of rice and drink coffee with it then I’m full to the gills and satisfied until late evening.
