Humira And Diet

A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

Hello HS Team Members. I have to ask to those who are on Humira. Before taking Humira you were restricted from some foods like Night Shades and Dairy Products. Since taking Humira, do you still have the same concerns or do you have more freedom to select what you want without flares as before?

My personal experience while I was on humira (I am now on Cosentyx) I could eat what I wanted and the flares would still come- just not as severe! I would recommend not eating a lot of it especially if you’ve already gotten your body used to not having such things! Hope this is helpful!

Hi Huggies. I now am on Humira. I am basically eating what I want and I had a boil starting BEFORE my initial injections and I had one about 3 days AFTER my injections. They we're short lived and painless.

Hi Fatima, I have been on Humira since 2018 I am a Stage 2-3. I have gone back to mostly eating what I want (minus tomatoes and peppers as those are killer flares for me), I still get flares, but they are definitely not as bad as before the Humira and last for way less time. I think if you just listen to your body it will let you know when you’ve been a bad girl lol. Good luck dolly I hope the Humira works well for you! 👍🏻🥰

I never heard nor follow any diet restrictions. I agree that the sores still come just not as intense or as frequent.

Hi Fatima,
I guess it's a good thing to keep the dairy to a minimum & there are good alternatives. The nightshade too but what is life without a plate of home made chips! I guess it's about keeping it all in balance. Maybe starting a food diary would help?
