My Doctor Just Diagnosed My HS Lesion As Herpes Simplex Virus 1. Has This Happened To Anyone Else?

Does herpes pop like an abscess? I told my doc that i have had sores like this for years and if this is herpes then i have been lied to for years. I am just so confused and don’t understand why a doctor would this HS is herpes?

Most of the time HS is misdiagnosed some doctors have not studied it. Was it a dermatologist that diagnosed you? Definitely get a second opinion i went to multiple doctors and dermatologist when mine first started and i was misdiagnosed a couple times before i found a more experienced dermatologist and found out it was HS. @A myHSteam Member

Get a second opinion. Also, do you get abscess in different locations or just in one particular place?

One member of myHSteam shared their frustration about being misdiagnosed with herpes despite not having had sex in over a year. HS bumps are different from herpes sores; they take longer to heal, often produce scarring, and aren't contagious. If you think you've been misdiagnosed, it's important to talk to another doctor for a second opinion.

I would certainly get a second opinion, HS goes undiagnosed and misdiagnosed often.
