Always has been for me. Tell the men in the beginning. Most part are ok with it. My husband told me he was and as it started to evolve was a lot for him. Now we are going to get a divorce. It's not uncommon for individuals with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) to feel self-conscious about their scars and experience flare-ups, especially in intimate areas. This can indeed impact dating and intimate relationships. Many members of the HS community have shared feelings of being "gross and unattractive" due to scarring, which profoundly affects their self-image and social activities, including dating. It's important to remember you're not alone in these feelings. Building a support network, whether through online communities like myHSteam or local support groups, can provide a space to share experiences and coping strategies. Open communication with potential partners about HS can also foster understanding and intimacy. Remember, your worth is not defined by your skin, and there are people out there who will see and appreciate you for who you are beyond your HS.
