How can I help drain one when it's so painful and I've done everything?

I use a bed buddy. I heat it in the microwave for a minute and put it on the area. The weight/pressure may hurt for a second but it helps reduce the pain and drain (not immediately).

I’ve taken hot showers and just let the water fall over it. Don’t place it directly on it but just let it fall. It will hurt but it lets it get to a point to pop and drain. Or hot compresses work just as well.

Depending on the location you can use heat or cold to help with the pain, most times I will use a hot compress to help with getting it to drain. I hope that this helps you

Are you asking about the process of draining an abscess in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) through incision and drainage (I&D)? Here's a detailed explanation:

- **Procedure**: During I&D, a surgeon makes an incision into the abscess to release the pus and fluid buildup.
- **Technique**: After the incision, pressure is applied to expel additional contents, and the area is then washed with saline to clean it.
- **Anesthesia**: The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia, which numbs the area but allows the patient to remain awake.
- **Purpose**: I&D is used to temporarily relieve the pain and pressure associated with an abscess in HS patients.
- **Effectiveness**: While I&D can provide immediate pain relief, it does not prevent new lesions from developing and is generally not a long-term solution for managing HS.

If you have more specific questions or need further details, feel free to ask!
