Hi Coda. I use Humira and I don't feel anything the day before, the day of, during or after the injection. I have no swelling or soreness 😊

I'm not on Humira but I am on Cosentyx. I personally don't feel anything the day(s) before. Now after I feel a little drossy and have little energy, but it is better than dealing with the arthritis and HS!!

Many people experience a range of emotions before their next Humira (adalimumab) injection for hidradenitis suppurativa. Here are some insights and tips from the knowledge base:

- Preparation Rituals: Some individuals, like Alex, find comfort in creating a calming ritual. This might include taking the biologic out of the refrigerator an hour before the injection, drinking a favorite relaxing tea, and listening to calming music.
- Reducing Pain: Bringing the medication to room temperature and using an ice pack or topical anesthetic cream like lidocaine can help reduce pain and swelling at the injection site.
- Support Systems: Joining a patient-support group (PSP) can be beneficial. Studies have shown that those in PSPs often adhere better to their treatment and report better management of their condition.
- Managing Fear: Understanding that the risk of severe side effects is generally small can help alleviate some fears. Knowledge and preparation can empower you to manage your treatment more effectively.
