What Is CBD Oil, Have Seen It Mentioned As Possibly Helping With HS?

A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭
Corner Brook, NL

I have had HS for about 35 years, it was probably about ten years before I was diagnosed. I have used oral antibiotics, antibiotic creams, steroid cream, and Humira, now changed to Simlandi by my drug plan bec ause of cost. My HS has spread and not getting improvements in the past year or so. I am considering asking my dermatologist to change to another biologic/biosimilar or just giving it up altogether, since it seems to be not working very well anymore

You need to know there is NO CURE! If you have HS you have a lifetime of aggravation dealing with it. I've had it for over 40 yrs, and feel like I've tried everything. It's just what you do with HS......something might work one of these days so you keep trying every suggestion! I feel I finally found my trigger.....I tried the keto diet to lose weight, and my HS improved every day.....I have now been off and on it for about 3 yrs, and on it 24/7 now. I am in complete remission to the point that lesions that have leaked for years have dried up. Let me know if you want more info. I would be happy to help! Hugs!!

Stacia.....I live in Canada and we are legal across the country. Its great, every household is allowed 4 plants. We have a machine to process it into different products. I make a muscle rub, skin cream and edible oil. It certainly helps.

Hi, I'm a medical marijuana patient and have used cannabis for multiple sclerosis for years. I can answer this one. CBD is found in cannabis and has many potential benefits including anti-inflammatory and pain control. CBD can also include terpenes which are safe and found in plants and foods. They bind to receptors in the brain just like CBD does, adding to the effects of CBD. There are a ton of anti-inflammatory terpenes that can make CBD work better. That said, if you live in a state that legalized the use of cannabis, it's best to pick up a topical from a dispensary because you'll know exactly what is in it and they can help you choose the best product to try. The oils are super thick so I would recommend a form that's used specifically topically like a lotion. THC is the part of the plant that gets people silly, so that's not a risk with CBD. Let me know if you try it!
