What Do People Do About Covering Or Bandaging Their Areas Between Flare Ups?

A myHSteam Member asked a question đź’
London, UK

Hullo, all!

My HS was being an absolute pain in the behind (a flare up the likes of which I'd never experienced before!) when I got my diagnosis in December, I haven't been consciously tending to wounds prior to then. I had a real problem healing up and have been put on lymecycline.

The thing is - during the bad times, I got used to keeping the areas covered every day, changing the dressings at least once a day (more if necessary), but I've found that now that the lymecycline is doing it's job… read more

Once my flares are dormant I do not cover up but def keep up with my antiseptic washes, showering immediately after workingout, and avoiding the heat as it's a trigger. And as you said i believe it's… read more

Why Is My Hs Constantly Leaking?

A myHSteam Member asked a question đź’
Sydney, AU

I thought it would just empty and heal, but it's constantly releasing pus or blood.

A myHSteam Member

Yes. And you have to remember it's not always infected puss. It's just the white blood cells that are gathering there and it continues to leak. It's the secondary infections that you need to be on top… read more

Surgery Codes Meaning?

A myHSteam Member asked a question đź’

Hello I’m getting surgery for my under arms soon and I can’t remember exactly what the doctor said he was going to do. I do have the surgery codes and when I looked it up it said

with complex repair and Adjacent tissue transfer or rearrangement.”

Has anyone had a similar surgery and can explain exactly what he is going to do. I know I can call the office but I’ve been busy lately that I haven’t had the chance. Anything… read more

A myHSteam Member asked a question đź’
Siloam Springs, AR

I have this lump in my scalp for over 10 years and for a while a doc would not touch it to the psoriasis. Though out the year the psoriasis would cause me to loose my hair. Now that it's controlled and I have hair back. They can do something about it, but need to shave my head. And I really don't want that. Trying to figure out different way to get rid of this lump that is starting to be painful when brushing my hair. (I will shave it off if I have to, but I finally got all my hair back.)… read more

I’ve Never Heard Of This And Have Been Suffering From It For 3 Yrs. Is It From Smoking?

A myHSteam Member asked a question đź’
Wanamingo, MN

I thought maybe my hygiene was going downhill. But it doesn’t matter how careful I am or if I shaved with a razor. I smoke a pack a day of cigarettes, but have for 20 years. Only experienced this for 2. I flare up every month or month and a half. Should I apply ice? So painful, afraid of infections.

A myHSteam Member

So I use ice for my really bad lesions all the time. Or cold water therapy. It isn't caused because you might have gotten lacks about your hygiene. But what will cause more lesions is shaving or… read more
