What Type Of Pain Do You Feel After A Flare Has Drained?

A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭
Des Moines, IA

I just had a big flare drain today and I’m left with a more aching kind of pain. It’s way less painful than before it burst which was horrible and stabby. Just wondering what other people’s experiences are and if I need to be concerned.

Hi. Once my boil burst and drain, that ends it with the pain. The pain is only caused from the swelling, inflammation and irritation. After, the next day it's healing great. Maybe you should get it checked out.😀

After a hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) flare has drained, many people experience a decrease in pain. One myHSteam member shared, “When my lesions drain, my pain decreases.” However, the process of the boil or lesion leaking or bursting can be painful, messy, and smelly at the time, but it leads to relief.
