Managing both hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) and diabetes can be challenging. Here are some key points from the knowledge base:

- Connection Between HS and Diabetes: People with HS have higher rates of diabetes, possibly due to unbalanced hormone levels and ongoing inflammation that can prevent insulin from working properly.
- Symptoms of Diabetes: Be mindful of unusual thirst or hunger, frequent urination, tiredness, irritability, unexpected weight loss, vision changes, slow-healing wounds, frequent infections, and tingling in hands or feet.
- Lifestyle Changes: Quitting smoking, eating a balanced diet, and engaging in enjoyable physical activity can help manage both conditions.
- Treatment: Work with your healthcare team to find a treatment plan that addresses both HS and diabetes.

Good night and take care! 🌻

I was diagnosed in 2016 but believe it should’ve been much sooner.

No, I’m not diabetic but have genetic (pre-existing) conditions I was born with that have always put me at a higher risk for being diagnosed.

1) Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome
2) Insulin resistance
3) Metabolic syndrome

I suggested/asked my old APRN Lexi Martin if she could prescribe Metformin for me. I take 500 mg 2 X’s daily-

My A1C remains a little under normal which is a miracle and my GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) can’t back as WNL- within normal limits-

This is a huge blessing and relief-

I’ve lost around 62 pounds or so since May of last year and believe that thanks to everyone who I love dearly on our team, my family and friends, the fact that I switched from government health run care after being a patient there for 15 years, also helped.

I had a chance to get much better medical care at Christus Oschner and have been pleased with them.

I thank everyone for y’all’s support and encouragement, ALL THE TIME.

I hope I’ve done the same for y’all- I try to do my best and

Pray for you all daily.

Thanks for your question for all of us.

Prayers and hugs to all,

Ambassador Camille and furball tabby girl Muffin Jr
