This is the first time in the 45years that I have had HS and I have ever heard the term "deroofing". Learning some many new things through this community!

Hi MissPj. Deroofing is taking the top off the flare, the bump so it can drain.😀

Deroofing is a bit different. When they take the top off the tunnel under the skin it is supposed to stop it from filling up again. They also leave the incision open to allow it to heal from inside and push out any infection left inside.
I had my left groin, leg crease and top of thigh done about a month ago.
Was scary ahead of time but I had a great experience with it. It took about 3.5 weeks before incision closed. Bandage changed every day, having right side done in April.
I found a dermatologist that specializes in this condition. She is very nice and very knowledgeable and caring

Hey girl, when I heard the term deroofing i thought of debridement, check it out, I was offered this in 1989, for reduction of scar tissue, but I asked the question wouldn't the debridment cause scarring as and the doctor said yes, I could see that this resident doctor didn't know what he was talking about and he caused a lot of harm to me. But I do think deroofing is something different but I've never heard of it before, i need to check it out.

I’m liking what I read on CO2 laser therapy. Find someone who does that. Research says it doesn’t return like traditional surgical incision and drainage. I also keep a list of what works and doesn’t on a notepad from what I read here based on stages.
And honestly can’t they stop with all the silly names. De-roofing ? Sounds needlessly scary so stupid. So a bump that won’t come to a head or rupture needs this to drain and heal.
