Hibiclens Usage?

A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭
Grand Rapids, MI

How many people use this and do you only use it a hotspot or do you use it all over? If you do use it all over how often do you?

I'm not wanting to make it part of my usual routine but I just want to do one good all over body scrub with hibiclens but don't know if it would be harmful

I use hibiclens on all my active spots in the shower I don't put it all over cause it can wipe away good bacteria too I don't think it helps them exactly but I think it helps with the smell and any staph and stuff

@A myHSteam Member I completely agree with you. I use Hibiclens/Betadine solution after a shower all over and leave it for a second or two. I apply topical clindamycin on my groin and since of late there is a noticeable improvement in certain huge inflammations that just wouldn’t heal and were constantly weeping wounds or pus filled.

I've found that Rx topical clindamyacin helps me the most but you have to use it religiously. I've never noticed a difference one way or another with Hibiclens, but tons of HS sufferers swear by it.

Hibiclens, also known as Hibiscrub, is commonly used by individuals with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) to manage their condition. Here’s how it is typically used:

- Application: It is applied directly to the body during showers.
- Frequency: Daily use is common among some members of the HS community.
- Effectiveness: Users have reported that regular use of Hibiclens can lead to infrequent flare-ups of HS.
- Method: It is best applied for about 10 minutes directly to sores before washing it off, as this method helps in drying up the sores quickly.

However, it's important to note that while some find it helpful, others may find medicated washes like Hibiclens to be irritating to their skin. Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new treatment regimen.

I love that stuff. I use it every time I take a shower. It's about the only thing that helps me get through this incurable, life long curse called HS..
