I went to 1 dermatologist about 5 yrs ago.....I've had HS over 40 yrs. All they did was put me on doxycycline which did nothing! I think there are good ones and bad ones that know little about HS! I don't know why they prescribe things that they know don't get rid of HS???? It didn't give me one iota of relief! So glad I live in Canada where it doesn't cost me to go to the Dr while they experiment on my problem with different drugs that have proven to not help others!

To find a dermatologist who understands and can effectively treat Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS), consider the following steps:

1. Seek a Specialist: Look for a board-certified physician who specializes in complex medical dermatology. These specialists are experienced in treating difficult, rare, or complex skin diseases like HS.

2. Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation: The foundation provides a list of HS Specialty Clinics across the U.S. that offer medical care for people with HS.

3. Telehealth Visits: If you can't find a local specialist, consider a virtual consult. Many dermatologists now offer telehealth services, allowing them to remotely examine, diagnose, and prescribe treatment for HS.

4. Referrals: Ask for referrals from trusted sources, such as your primary care physician or other healthcare providers.

For more detailed information, you can visit the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation's website or consider telehealth options if in-person visits are challenging.
