What's helped is definitely nerve pain relief cream called Hemp by Hempvana, antibacterial topicals, A and D ointment, and of course doing warm compresses.

For exercising doing low impact not only will reduce sweat, but will also help reduce friction, depending how your body is feeling. Drink plenty of purified water to not only stay hydrated, but to help with flares.

Try doing breathing exercises, and listening to calm instrumental soothing music which will help you to stay calm and relaxed.

And lastly, try to include more fruits vegetables, along with grains. And limited yourself on processed foods

I hope this helps, have a great day!

Julia....all carbs turn into sugar when your body is processing them...the main foods with carbs are breads rices, potatoes and pasta. I find a lesion will come out about 3 days after I eat the wrong thing. Possibly you are eating carbs and not realizing it?? They always say soaking in the bath is good for lesions, but I am not a tub person. I have always found every year when I go to the Caribbean, I can eat carbs and sweets and not have a lesion.....I am an ocean person....I am sure it's the salt water that helps. I really want a salt water hot tub but having a hard time convincing my husband!

My triggers are sugar and carbs like white flour, white rice and potatoes. Sweating can also precipitate a flare-up. So my exercise of choice is swimming and water aerobics with water weights. The chlorine helps to dry up the lesions so they heal faster. But sometimes flare-ups occur for apparently no reason. It’s frustrating.

I have always bandaged my lesions, it really helped cushion them and I believe I had less pain. I have had HS over 40 yrs, and possibly took 5 days off work in that time. It's in my groin area so have been challenging walking some days. Currently I am in total remission. I went on the keto diet to lose weight, and my HS improved! I played around with it for about 3 yrs, and now I feel I have found out my trigger is sugar. Keto is no sugar and no carbs, and most don't know that carbs turn into sugar when your body is processing them! Let me know if you want to try and I can help! Hugs

I deal with flair ups by putting dressings on them - I find this relives the pressure of when the lesion is ready to burst. They always say to loose weight and eat healthy but I developed this when I was young and I wasn't overweight then!
Be kind to yourself - when you have a flair up rest, the infection can really take it out of you. Do things you enjoy and try and get the pain under control with stronger pain meds
