How Does Smoking Affect HS?

A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭
Virginia Beach, VA

I see a lot of tips for reducing flare ups include stop smoking, and while I don't smoke cigarettes, I do smoke weed and vape. I do want to quit vaping, but I self-medicate for other conditions I have with weed, so I'm curious as to how smoking affects HS?

My doctor for years had been trying to get me to quit. I personally don't think it affects negativity towards HS. I think they tell you that for your own good. Just to try and get you to quit. It used to be the first thing the doctor would ask me "Still Smoking?' Yep. Want to quit? No. But I did cold turkey when I was told I had to quit. Thinking back it was due to a skin graf (HS) that they told me to quit.

I should add that although I have quit cigarettes, I still smoke marijuana, and have my whole life. It can help with pain and stress, and I do not believe for a minute it would make your hs worse!

Big noticing a big difference I was a cigarette smoker up to 2 years ago and I have noticed there's not so many irritations when I'm saying HS I'm not saying I don't have them I'm saying switching from cigarettes to a beep yes has changed less but not the best for you still because I don't get that cuz your cousin damage to you numford can take in more metabolical issues so the risk is yours
