Doctors are overwhelmed these days. I suppose that is why we have specialists for everything. But, I get angry when they act like I don't know what I am talking about. It's like my kid's autism. You read a book! I'm living with it! I was told in 2014 that I was going to die because of my lupus. I'm not dead yet! 😒 I was told that my kids were never going to be able to live a normal life. My daughter has two college degrees! I just think that when a person is living with a disorder, doctors need to listen. Reading a book does not make you an expert. Living with it does! 😉

Lynette, you're asking some pretty in depth questions. How much are we studying, the worst part of HS we're suffering, what we're doing about it... It's almost like you're collecting data. 😉 I research HS periodically. I'm living with it, so I don't think a doctor is more educated about than I am. I do look for new treatments and comorbidities related to HS though. Personally, I'm uninsured, so medical care is not an option for me. I've tried multiple things to help my HS, but my life is extremely stressful. The stress is my worst HS enemy. There's little I can do to change that.

Linda, Thanks for the reply. Is almost 58 really that old? I am sorry about what doctors did to your husband. Well, your husband's friend. Now, I have a new problem. I have been off Humira a couple months now and I am getting little red bumps on the insides of my hands and feet. I think the Humira use may have given me eczema. I thought it was antbites at first, but they keep coming. This is new. I have never had this happen. I have enough groin and boob problems with h.s. without throwing another log 🪵 on the fire. I have to get to a specialist that will help me. I have to get some help. I feel like I am going insane. Thanks for listening my friend.

I've read a lot on it spent a lot of time on Google lol there is so many different ideas out there about what causes it and the best way to treat it and it is different for everyone so I know none of this is written in stone I have a good team of people I have my primary care doctor she kind of just watches what is going on with this and I have a very good doctor at the wound care clinic and a very good dermatologist and I also have 2 home health nurses that come 2 times a week so I try to get my treatment and stay on top of it follow my skin care routine and take all my medicine etc... It takes a lot of time but with this one of the key things is making time for your own self care I know a lot of you have jobs and young kids and I don't know how you juggle it all if you have HS it is a lot to stay on top of!! But that's what you gotta do

Trina doctors dismiss old people regardless of sex too. I went with husband to get a special type of shot in my husbands knees. The doctor said they don’t work and wanted to just inject cortisone which eventually destroys the tendons. I spoke up and said I knew darn well they work because I was supposed the get three shots in each knee two weeks apart and that that 10 years ago and that I’ve been pretty decent feeling ever since. He said well it works 50% of the time and will need cortisone in two weeks. I said well since I had great success can we give my husband a chance and it it don't work he can come back and get the cheaper cortisone shot in two weeks? So my husband got the shots. He still has some pain but it is way better. So they were gonna blow my husband off. Two months later my husband went with a friend to do the same and he got blown off too and he did t argue and got stuck with the cortisone shots, They do knee replacements there so I wonder if they hoping to get surgery money or just what???
